Patsy's blower motor

After about four months of marriage, Steve and I purchased our first car together. It was used, but new to us....and we loved it! We still LOVE this car. Her name is Patsy and she is a 2000 Honda Passport. Nothing too special about this car, but it's ours and we have great memories with this car. She has been with us everywhere we've gone and we have taken her on a lot of long trips. She has been a great addition to the family, no doubt. Last November, however, she caused great damage to our bank account as she needed some pricey repairs. We rushed to fix the car because we were leaving two weeks later to drive to New England. The night we got back from our trip we no longer had heat or air in the car...right before winter! We took her back to the doc and they told us that her blower motor was failing and it would be another large expense to replace it. We chose not to fix it at the time and told the mechanic we may come back soon to get a new one. We went home and I just prayed. I didn't want my kids to be cold all winter when we were in the car, especially traveling out of town to see family for holidays, but I also didn't want to take anymore money out of our savings account.

Well, guess what? Funny thing...a few days later the blower motor started working again. What we found was that it came in and out....sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't. It was a surprise every time we got in the car! But after a couple of weeks it worked ALL the time! It lasted all winter long. Then, a couple of weeks ago (when the weather warmed up), I hopped in Patsy, cranked her up and....no blower motor! I just smiled so big! I truly believe God heard my prayer and that He kept us warm in the car through the winter months. The blower motor hasn't worked for a couple of weeks. This morning we get in the car and Noah says he is cold...and it was chilly outside. Steve cranks up ol' Patsy and you'll never believe it.....there was heat!! GOD is SO GOOD! But, this afternoon on the way home we had to window it once again.

I should mention that 2 weeks ago Steve got into a car wreck that wasn't his fault. He had no bodily damage (Praise God!), but as I was typing this he got a call from the other insurance company and they are cutting him a check for just about enough money to fix the blower motor in Patsy! And that is just to square away medical stuff (which we had no medical problems)....not even including money for the damage to our car! HE blows me away sometimes! (no pun intended). :)

I know that eventually we should fix it, but since November God has reminded me of how He is our faithful Provider! When I see Him constantly providing and taking care of us in these small ways, how can I doubt His provision when bigger trials come along that start to shake my faith? He reminds me of this:

"Therefore, I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away on barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? ....But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."
