Hmmm. This got me thinking on how infected my heart and mind were before Christ. And how they get so infected now if I do not remain in the Word. If I stay too busy doing "stuff" and focus only on my selfish wants and not on HIM daily....I get so infected with my own flesh! Just like I have to do my homework and floss and use my perio-aid everyday, so I need to be on my face praying and worshiping and letting the Word of GOD shape my heart and my mind. I have to rid myself of all the infection of my flesh and this world to remain pure and true to my Lord.
Here is some Scripture the Lord gave me this morning.
"Put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness." Ephesians 4:22-24
"Finally brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things." Phil. 4:8
"So we do not lose heart. THough our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day." 2 Corinthians 4:16
"Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there be any grievous way in me and lead me in the way everlasting!" Psalm 139:23-24
"Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life." Proverbs 4:23
"And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, "Abba! Father!" Galatians 4:6
"And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey all my rules." Ezekiel 36:26-27
"And I will deliver you from all your uncleannesses..." Ezekiel 36:29a
LORD, thank you for delivering me from myself and fighting the enormous infection of my humanity for me on the Cross! Thank you for giving me more grace than deserved as you summoned my heart to yours and gave me enough faith to believe the Truth of who you are!
